The Undergraduate Symposium is an annual showcase and celebration of undergraduate research, scholarly projects, service-learning, community-based research, and fine arts. In addition to providing students the opportunity to present their work in a professional setting, the symposium serves as a forum for the UW-Madison community to celebrate and learn about the innovative and outstanding work of UW-Madison’s undergraduates.
Community members are an essential part of the Undergraduate Symposium. Students, mentors, advisors, faculty, family, and friends are welcome and heartily encouraged to attend!

2026 Undergraduate Symposium
The 28th annual Undergraduate Symposium will be held on Friday, April 17th, 2026 from 9:30 AM to 5:30 PM. The event will include four sessions in which students will concurrently present posters, displays, and presentations.
In Union South, undergraduates will present posters and art/project displays in Varsity Hall (floor 2) and share presentations in breakout rooms. In the Discovery Building (afternoon sessions only), they will showcase posters in the Atrium Open Court.
When you arrive, you may proceed directly to students’ presentation rooms, or stop by registration for assistance with navigation.
Please also join us for the Celebration of 28 Years of the Undergraduate Symposium, Mentor Awards Ceremony, and Friends and Family Reception, beginning at 4:30 PM in Varsity Hall (Union South). John Zumbrunnen, Provost and Executive Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs, and Janet Branchaw, Interim Vice Provost for Teaching and Learning, will preside. Light refreshments will be provided during the reception.
